Frequently asked questions

What to Expect...

On first presenting to the practice, a full and comprehensive assessment of your problem is undertaken and a plan devised to best treat your specific injury.

The aim is to facilitate the quickest and most optimal return to sport or work utilising an evidence-based approach.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapists generally provide a hands-on treatment approach in conjunction with a tailored exercise program.  An injury-specific exercise program enables the client to make faster gains and maintain improvements often without the need for ongoing maintenance treatment.

Exercise Physiologists will also take a history and undertake an assessment, which may include fitness and strength testing. This will be tailored to suit all levels of fitness and strengths
WHERE IS TABLELANDS PHYSIO LOCATED AND WHERE CAN I PARK?

We are located at 177 Mort St (Bells line of road), just a few doors down from CW printing.

There is parking in front of the practice or in the council carpark (across the road). We also have parking available behind the practice, accessed via rear lane with a ramp, so you can access our building without stairs via the back door.

If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to call.

Please come 5-10 minutes prior to your first appointment so that you can fill out some basic paperwork.

Bring your referral if you have one (only required for workers comp and third party), x-rays/scans and a list of your medications.

Don't worry if you don't have your scan reports with you, we can call and have them faxed through.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

For Physiotherapy clients:
  • You should wear clothing that allows the physiotherapist to thoroughly examine the injured area.
  • If it is a lower limb, then wearing or bringing shorts is a good idea. However we can lend you shorts if required.
  • If it is a neck, back or upper limb, we provide gowns for our female patients (or wear a singlet top). This allows the appropriate area to be examined properly.
  • If you are having problems with your feet or ankles often bringing in the shoes most often worn can be a good idea.

For Pilates or Exercise Physiology clients:
  • Comfortable clothes to allow you to exercise and stretch. Often layers are a good idea, especially in the cooler months.
  • Socks (dark ones) for Pilates
  • A water bottle and towel is also recommended.
DOES THE PRACTICE HAVE HICAPS?

Yes, if you bring your private health insurance card, we can swipe it and claim on the spot. You will only need to pay the gap. Please check with your health fund whether Exercise Physiology/Pilates is covered.

 CAN I CLAIM THROUGH MEDICARE?

Some people qualify to claim on five (5) allied health appointments under Medicare in one (1) calendar year. Your doctor will be able to tell you if you are eligible under the enhanced primary care program. You will still need to pay for your visit and we can organise for Medicare to put the refund back into your cheque/savings account on the day. You will need to bring your Eftpos card, Medicare card and the EPC referral from your Doctor. There will be a gap, so please call the practice and chat to Sharlene if you have any questions in regards to this.
